Near The Orchard House
Palisade
The Orchard House is within minutes of the town of Palisade, which is world famous for its peaches. Palisade also hosts 75% of the state's premium wine grape vineyards and has the state’s greatest concentration of wineries and vineyards, many of which feature tasting rooms and free tours.
Palisade hosts numerous annual events including the Palisade Peach Festival, the Palisade Sunday Market, the Palisade Bike Festival, the Ravenshire Renaissance and Pirate Faire, the Rocky Mountain Wine Festival, and the Palisade Olde Fashioned Christmas celebration. The Book Cliffs
Visible from The Orchard House, the Book Cliffs mountain range stretches about 200 miles from east to west. Mt. Garfield is a prominent feature of the Book Cliffs and also is visible from The Orchard House.
In the Surrounding Area
Grand Mesa
The majestic Grand Mesa, which is visible from The Orchard House, is the largest flat-topped mountain in the world. It has an area of about 500 square miles and stretches for about 40 miles between the Colorado River and the Gunnison River. The Grand Mesa rises about 5,000 feet above the surrounding river valleys, reaching a maximum elevation of about 11,236 feet. Over 200 lakes are scattered along the top of the formation.
